Artist Statement for 2011 to 13

       I work with used motor oil and dried out paints. I paint figures in condensed carmalized carbon. This series started as a protest message againest the 1st world's blind consumption of non-renewable energies. I originally just wanted the audience to experience a colapse of images; Pelicans in Raw Oil and Angelic oceanscapes with a Billow of Smoke.
       Now, I am dependant on the medium. Ironically I have aligned  my style with the use of motor oil. What was oringinally an isolated artistic act of defience  has now become very important tool for my self expression.
So my new works are figures in used motor oil. I am the consumer, and they are the consumed- a seccondary subject to my obsession with oil.
